Ajax’s interest in Hakim Ziyech could turn into a reality, with Chelsea reportedly keen to offload the Moroccan playmaker in January.
According to 90min, Ajax are ready to offer Hakim Ziyech a way out from his current situation at Chelsea. The Dutch giants want to revive the Moroccan playmaker’s fortunes in the January transfer window. Ziyech has not had a good time on the pitch in the last few months, and a transfer might help resurrect his career.
Chelsea co-owner Todd Boehly has been overseeing the current transfer dealings since the takeover, and he remains an influential figure as far as the final decision is concerned.
Hakim Ziyech’s Chelsea career has not shaped the way he would have hoped for, and the arrival of Graham Potter has not done him any good. He fell in the pecking order under Thomas Tuchel and has been a peripheral figure from the first team.
Ajax will be more than happy to welcome their prodigal son back. But they might have to beat AC Milan if they are to get the transfer done in the January transfer window. The Italian giants are believed to be working round the clock to bring in reinforcements, and Ziyech is one of their priority targets.
The Moroccan playmaker has marked his name for his attacking antics but has not been able to justify his price tag. Ziyech has struggled for game time, and the time has finally come to bid adieu to Chelsea.
A loan deal was deemed to be viable for the player, but the Blues are looking for a permanent sale. And they might accept a lower price in a bid to engineer a move. The Blues reportedly have a pre-contract agreement to sign Christopher Nkunku. Chelsea are also chasing the signature of Red Bull Salzburg’s Benjamin Sesko.
Ajax are the front-runners to sign Ziyech, but one cannot deny the influence Milan currently have in the transfer market. For now, it seems the 29-year-old playmaker’s days at Chelsea might be numbered, with the Rossoneri and his former club keen on signing him in January.
