La Liga champions Real Madrid have reportedly set their sights on 22-year-old promising right-back Sacha Boey.
According to a report by Spanish outlet Defensa Central, Sacha Boey is the subject of interest from Real Madrid. The reigning La Liga champions have sent scouts to watch the promising 22-year-old Galatasaray right-back in action this season.
Sacha Boey spent his formative years in France, starting his youth career at Romainville. He then spent a couple of years at Red Star FC before joining Stade Rennais in 2014. The young right-back ended his footballing education at Rennes but could not establish a foothold in their first-team squad.
But the 22-year-old has come leaps and bounds since joining Galatasaray from Rennes in July 2021. Boey took some time to get going but is now a regular for the Turkish giants. And he has featured eight times thus far in the 2022/23 season, with his performances capturing the attention of several European bigwigs, including Real Madrid.
The interest from Real Madrid stems from the advancing years of Dani Carvajal. The Spaniard has also seen his performance levels wane in the last few years, and Real Madrid might benefit from laying down a succession plan for him. To that end, Vinicius Tobias has already arrived at the Santiago Bernabeu this year.
But Florentino Perez knows better than to put all his eggs in one basket. And with Carvajal on the wrong side of 30, signing another right-back might be a step in the right direction for Real Madrid. Sacha Boey has thus emerged as a viable target for Los Blancos.
According to the report, the reigning La Liga champions have had scouts present at Galatasaray games this season. And the promising 22-year-old right-back has made his mark on Real Madrid’s watchers. So an approach might be on the cards, especially with top target Reece James likely being a no-go.
