La Liga heavyweights Barcelona will reportedly need to fork out €25 million to sign Diogo Dalot from Manchester United.
According to a report by Spanish publication SPORT, Manchester United will demand €25 million to part ways with Diogo Dalot. The Portuguese defender is a priority target for Barcelona to bolster the right-back department. But the Catalan giants are not interested in investing €25 million on the Manchester United full-back.
Diogo Dalot joined Manchester United from FC Porto over four years ago and has made gradual progress since then. The 23-year-old was one of Jose Mourinho’s final signings as the Manchester United manager, and the Portuguese manager lauded him to no end back then.
But Dalot has taken his time to establish a foothold at Manchester United, although he is now their first-choice right-back. The Portuguese defender has featured in every match for the Red Devils, providing two assists. And his performances have captured the attention of Barcelona.
Barcelona initially showed interest in Dalot in the summer transfer window. But Manchester United did not wish to sell the youngster then, with Erik ten Hag installing him as the first-choice right-back. Barcelona eventually settled on Hector Bellerin as the right-back signing, but the Spaniard has only signed a one-year contract.
In addition, Sergi Roberto faces an uncertain future at Camp Nou and might leave Barcelona next summer. Dalot has thus emerged as a viable target for Barcelona, with the Blaugrana tracking his situation. That is because the 23-year-old is in the final year of his contract.
But Manchester United will likely exercise the option to extend his deal by a year, although they want him to sign a new long-term contract. However, if push comes to shove, the Red Devils will demand €25 million for the Portuguese defender after triggering their clause.
But the Catalan giants are not willing to fork out €25 million to sign Dalot as they have a lower valuation of him. It is also unclear if Dalot is ready to leave Manchester United to join Barcelona, who view him as a priorit target. In the end, his final decision might depend on Manchester United’s ability to qualify for the UEFA Champions League.
