Liverpool keeping tabs on Galatasaray quartet

Liverpool are looking to add to their squad in the coming windows and are keeping tabs on the Galatasaray quartet of Sacha Boey, Yunus Akgun, Kerem Akturkoglu and Victor Nelsson.

According to a report from Turkish outlet Fanatik, Sacha Boey, Yunus Akgun, Kerem Akturkoglu and Victor Nelsson were in action when Galatasaray took on Konyaspor in a recent league match. And Liverpool scouts were in attendance to run the rule over the quartet in Turkey.

It will be interesting to see whether the Premier League giants decide to follow up on their interest with concrete offers for the aforementioned players in the coming months.

Talented young right-back Sacha Boey could prove to be a quality acquisition for Liverpool who are in need of depth in the right-back department. Currently, Trent Alexander-Arnold is the only reliable right back at the club, although Liverpool also signed Calvin Ramsay in the summer.

But Ramsay is yet to be fit enough to feature for Liverpool. So despite Alexander-Arnold’s poor defensive displays, Jurgen Klopp has had to persist with him in the starting lineup. Meanwhile, the interest in Akgun and Akturkoglu is surprising because Liverpool are well stocked in the wide areas. And the two players operate on the right and left flanks, respectively.

Akgun and Akturkoglu will have to compete with the likes of Mohamed Salah, Diogo Jota, and Luis Diaz for regular game time if they decide to move to Anfield. Both players need to play regularly at this stage of their careers, and a move to Liverpool might not be ideal for them.

Finally, Danish international defender Nelsson could be a decent acquisition for the Merseyside giants. But Klopp already has four centre-backs at their disposal. So Nelsson might have to settle for the role of a squad player if he moves to Liverpool. The likes of Joel Matip, Virgil van Dijk, and Ibrahima Konate will all be ahead of him in the pecking order.

It will be quite surprising if Liverpool decide to bring in a centre-back and two wingers in the upcoming windows, especially when they desperately need midfield reinforcements. Klopp must look to bring in a couple of central midfielders as a priority and then focus on improving the other areas of his squad.
