Jude Bellingham reportedly wants to join Real Madrid, handing Los Blancos a boost in pursuit of the 19-year-old English prodigy.

According to reputed Spanish journalist Jose Alvarez’s claims on El Chiringuito, Real Madrid’s hopes of signing Jude Bellingham in the 2023 summer transfer window have risen. The English prodigy is keen on joining the reigning La Liga champions next year over his other suitors.

Jude Bellingham has established himself as one of the most prodigious young midfielders in Europe since bursting into the limelight during his short stint with the Birmingham FC first team. The teenage wonderkid set records galore for the English minnows before joining Borussia Dortmund a couple of years ago.

The 19-year-old has gone from strength to strength at the Signal Iduna Park, taking no time to become a pivotal player for Dortmund. The English prodigy has already turned out 100 times for the Bundesliga giants while chipping in with 13 goals and 18 assists. At the same time, Bellingham has also become a regular for England while capturing the attention of Real Madrid and other European bigwigs.

The interest from Real Madrid stems from the advancing years of Luka Modric and Toni Kroos. The ageing midfield stalwarts are approaching the end of their respective illustrious careers, and Real Madrid will need to lay down a succession plan for the duo sooner or later.

Bellingham has thus emerged as a viable target for Los Blancos, who had considered signing him this past summer. But with Borussia Dortmund reluctant to lose two pivotal players in the same transfer window, Real Madrid and the other suitors have had to push forward their plans until the 2023 summer transfer window.

The issue for Real Madrid is that Chelsea, Liverpool, Manchester City, and Manchester United are also keen on signing Bellingham. But the 19-year-old English prodigy has handed Real Madrid a boost, with Jose Alvarez claiming he wants to join the reigning La Liga champions ahead of his other suitors next summer.

While Real Madrid might thus be the front-runner to sign the teenage whizkid, matching Borussia Dortmund’s hefty asking price will likely be a stumbling block. It will be interesting to see if the Merengues can sign Bellingham at their desired valuation or if they will have to spend a nine-figure sum to land him. His other suitors will not go down without a fight, either.
