Crystal Palace are keen on signing Djibril Sow from Eintracht Frankfurt.
According to The Athletic, Palace are plotting a late swoop for the midfielder who has been linked with a move to the Premier League all summer
Sow has done well for Frankfurt and the German club are reportedly demanding a fee of around £20 million for his services. It seems unlikely that Palace will be able to spend that kind of money in him.
Previously, Nottingham Forest tried to sign the player but their approach was rebuffed.
Apparently, Sow is keen on staying in the Bundesliga this season and he wants to play Champions League football with Frankfurt. He will not get that platform at Selhurst Park.
It is fair to assume that a move to the Premier League is highly unlikely to go through on deadline day. Palace could try their luck again during the January transfer window.
The Eagles are thought to be desperate to improve their midfield options this summer and they only decided to move for Sow after failing to bring Conor Gallagher back to the club this summer.
The 22 year old was on loan at Selhurst Park last season from Chelsea and he was outstanding for Patrick Vieira’s side.
Signing Gallagher would have been quite a coup for Palace. He was well settled at the club and he knew Vieira’s system extensively. He would have made an immediate impact.
The midfielder has been linked with a move away from Stamford Bridge anyway and he is on the radar of Aston Villa, Everton, Newcastle and West Ham as well.
The 22 year old is unlikely to get regular game time at Chelsea and a summer move would be ideal for his development.
Meanwhile, Sow picked up 3 goals and 6 assists across all competitions last season and he would have been an impressive addition for Palace as well.
It remains to be seen whether the Eagles line up any other moves before the transfer window slams shut later today,
