Willian has reportedly undergone a medical with Fulham after ending his contract with Corinthians, as Marco Silva seeks an experienced head in his squad.

According to Fabrizio Romano, former Chelsea and Arsenal winger Willian will return to the Premier League as the Brazilian is pencilled in for a medical with Fulham. Marco Silva is seeking an experienced star to balance his squad, and the Brazilian attacker is the preferred player.

Willian only left the Premier League last summer when he agreed to terminate his contract with Arsenal. The Brazilian winger lasted just a year at the Emirates despite signing a three-year deal with the club upon arriving on a free transfer in 2020.

Before that, he made a name in England with Chelsea, playing more than 330 games for the west London outfit. Willian won the Premier League title twice with the Blues and got a UEFA Europa League winner’s medal, marking a successful time in west London.

However, the Arsenal move did not pan out the way both parties envisaged, and Willian soon moved to Brazil to play for Corinthians. The 34-year-old’s time at the South American club was mired in controversies, with the winger receiving plenty of death threats, among other things.

Willian has been keen on terminating his contract with the Brazilian club and got his wish recently. The former Arsenal winger is now a free agent, and Fulham have been keen on bringing him back to England during this window.

Marco Silva has considerably strengthened his squad during the summer but is keeping an eye out for an opportunistic signing. He also wanted to bring someone with vast experience and has pondered over signing Willian for quite some time.

Willian is now closing in on the move to Fulham and the familiarity of London. The Brazilian winger has completed his medical with the Cottagers as Silva looks to wrap up the signing before deadline day. The move for the 34-year-old was only possible after the termination of his deal with Corinthians, which has materialised.

Willian wanted a return to the Premier League, and it seems he has got his wish. The former Arsenal winger will bring loads of experience with him, something Silva hopes helps Fulham in their quest to remain in the Premier League beyond the current season. The Cottagers have begun their campaign well, although their unbeaten run was cut short by the defeat to Arsenal at the weekend.

Fulham take on Brighton & Hove Albion in a midweek fixture and will hope to get back on track. Meanwhile, Silva will be eager to seal another signing before the transfer deadline, as the manager remains keen on further strengthening his squad for the rest of the campaign.
