Everton have reportedly been linked with a move for 26-year-old Brazilian playmaker Matheus Pereira.
According to a report from The Sun, Everton and Leicester City are hoping to bring Brazilian midfielder Matheus Pereira back to the Premier League before the summer transfer window shuts down on Thursday.
The 26-year-old joined Saudi Arabian outfit Al Hilal last year, and he has managed to score three goals and pick up 13 assists across all competitions for his new club. It will be interesting to see if Everton can agree on a deal with Al Hilal to bring Pereira back to the Premier League before the window closes.
It is no secret that Everton need to bring in attacking reinforcements, and Pereira could prove to be a quality acquisition for them. The Toffees lost a key attacking player, Richarlison, earlier on in the summer, and Anthony Gordon is being heavily linked with a move to Chelsea.
Pereira was well settled in English football before his move to Al Hilal, and he could make an immediate impact at Goodison Park if the transfer goes through. The Brazilian playmaker will add creativity and flair in the final third, and his versatility will be an added bonus for Frank Lampard.
Pereira can operate as a wide player as well as the number ten, and he will help create chances for the Everton strikers Neal Maupay and Dominic Calvert-Lewin. The 26-year-old is at the peak of his powers right now, and he could give his best years to Everton if the Toffees manage to bring him in this summer.
Everton were embroiled in a relegation battle last year, and a club of their stature will hope to do better this time around. Bringing in quality attacking reinforcements in the remaining days of the transfer window could be defining for their season, and they have shown interest in others, including Hwang Hee-chan, as well,
It remains to be seen whether Everton can beat Leicester City to Pereira’s signature. Meanwhile, the Everton fans will also hope that the Merseyside club can hold on to talented young players like Anthony Gordon who could become an invaluable player for the Toffees in the coming years.
