Arsenal reportedly continue to monitor the situation of Wilfried Zaha at Crystal Palace ahead of a potential summer transfer.
According to journalist Dean Jones, Arsenal have not given up on signing Crystal Palace talisman Wilfried Zaha, and they are looking to bring him to the Emirates before the summer window slams shut.
The 28-year-old was linked with a move to the north London club back in 2019, and Arsenal almost signed him before they decided to splash out a club-record £72 million on former Lille winger Nicolas Pepe.
However, Pepe has had a torrid time in the Premier League, and he is joining OGC Nice on a loan transfer. Mikel Arteta needs to bring in more quality and depth in the wide areas, and Zaha could prove to be a quality acquisition for Arsenal.
The 29-year-old Crystal Palace winger has been a key player for the club over the last few seasons, and he knows the Premier League well. Zaha could make an immediate impact at Arsenal if the Gunners manage to pull off his signing.
The former Manchester United winger has been one of the most exciting attackers in the Premier League for a while, and he deserves to play at a higher level. Arsenal will be able to offer the Crystal Palace talisman European football this season, which is likely to tempt him.
Furthermore, the Gunners have started the season impressively, and they will hope to qualify for the UEFA Champions League next season. A player of Zaha’s calibre deserves to play in the premier European competition, and he will not be able to achieve those ambitions at Selhurst Park.
Zaha scored 15 goals and picked up two assists across all competitions for Crystal Palace last season. A move to Arsenal would be ideal for both parties, but it seems unlikely that Crystal Palace will sanction his departure this late in the window. Even if Arsenal decide to spend big money on the former Manchester United winger, the Eagles might struggle to bring in a quality replacement before the window closes.
Arsenal have already improved their attack with the signing of Gabriel Jesus from Manchester City, and the Brazilian has managed to hit the ground running. The north Londoners can expect a similar impact from Zaha if the transfer goes through.
Meanwhile, Arsenal are also in talks to sign Wolverhampton Wanderers attacker Pedro Neto, but a move for the Portuguese attacker seems impossible right now. It will be interesting to see if Arsenal can sign Zaha from Crystal Palace this summer.
