PSG are reportedly readying an offer worth €70 million to sign Manchester United striker Marcus Rashford in the ongoing transfer window.
According to Fichajes, Paris Saint-Germain are ready to up the ante in their pursuit of Manchester United star Marcus Rashford. The French champions are preparing an opening offer of €70 million for the 24-year-old.
A product of the Manchester United youth academy, Rashford made his big breakthrough during Louis van Gaal’s tenure as manager at the age of 18 and has since been a permanent fixture in the lineup at Old Trafford. However, the England star has endured a difficult past year or so, having seen his form take a steep nosedive since last summer.
Rashford managed a poor tally of only five goals from 32 matches in all competitions and looked like a player whose confidence was completely shot. Things have hardly improved for the 24-year-old this season as he has produced two uninspiring performances in Manchester United’s opening two Premier League games.
Rashford’s future had been a topic of speculation earlier in the summer but new manager Erik ten Hag insists that the academy graduate is a key part of his plans going forward. Despite that and his struggles over the past year, PSG have taken a keen interest in the Englishman’s services and are looking to sign him this summer.
Indeed, PSG have already held talks with Rashford, with new sporting director Luis Campos said to be the main driving force behind the interest. The Ligue 1 champions plan to pair the Manchester United ace with resident superstar Kylian Mbappe and form a deadly attacking unit for the future.
Having held talks with the player and his camp, PSG are now readying an opening offer for Rashford and are planning to submit a bid worth €70 million to lure the Manchester United attacker to Parc des Princes.
Manchester United, for their part, are unwilling to part ways with Rashford and have slapped a massive €120 million price tag on their academy graduate to stave off interest from suitors. But, it seems like PSG are ready to test the waters with an opening offer, although the bid would be much lower than the €120 million valuation that the Red Devils have set.
In all likelihood, PSG’s €70 million bid for Rashford will be rejected, although given their spending power, one should not rule out the possibility of the Parisian giants returning with an improved offer.
