West Ham United willing to offer lucrative contract to Matheus Nunes

West Ham United are ready to triple Matheus Nunes’ salary to lure the midfielder to the London Stadium.

According to Record, as relayed by Sport Witness, West Ham United have offered to triple Matheus Nunes’ wages if he is to join the club. The Hammers have been keen on the Sporting CP midfielder, although their chances have been dealt a blow due to the player’s decision.

David Moyes will look to push the club into making more signings before the window shuts. His side suffered their second defeat of the season to Nottingham Forest on Sunday, which may have relayed the need for quality reinforcements to strengthen the squad.

West Ham have been searching hard for a new midfield addition despite signing Flynn Downes but have not yet found a way to sign the right player. Moyes has attempted to bring a few names, only to see them join their rivals instead. Yet there are a few names on the Hammers’ shortlist, and they could make a push to sign one of those players.

Matheus Nunes has been mentioned several times, as the midfielder was expected to make a big move to a Premier League club. Manchester City retain an interest in the Sporting CP star, while Liverpool are also keeping tabs on the 23-year-old midfielder.

West Ham are also keen on the Sporting star, having made more than one attempt to sign the midfielder. So far, their attempts have been futile, as their €35 million offer for Nunes fell well short of Sporting’s €50 million valuations.

At the same time, West Ham are also trying to find a way to convince the player by offering to triple his current wages at the Portuguese club. The report insists West Ham’s offer totalled up to €1.2 million per season for Nunes, which would technically triple his current salary. However, Nunes is reportedly not interested in the offer and has rejected the advances the Hammers made.

Nunes could be waiting on a project that suits his ambition of playing in the UEFA Champions League. While no offers match those yet, the midfielder is willing to wait for it to happen patiently, especially with Manchester City said to be interested

While West Ham are a solid team, signing for a Pep Guardiola side would entice any player in football, thus ruining Moyes’ chances of signing the Portugal international in this window.
