Crystal Palace interested in Antoine Semenyo

Marc Guehi could be available for £40-50 million next summer.

Crystal Palace’s search for a new striker has taken them to Antoine Semenyo, with Championship club Bristol City demanding £12 million for him.

According to a report by The Sun, Antoine Semenyo is the subject of interest from Crystal Palace over a possible late move in the summer transfer window. EFL Championship club Bristol City will demand around £12 million to part ways with the 22-year-old striker this month.

Antoine Semenyo has been with Bristol City for over half a decade but had to wait until the 2020/21 season to establish a foothold at the EFL Championship club. The Ghanaian international had not even succeeded in any of his loan stints but has turned his fortunes around brilliantly in the last couple of campaigns.

The 22-year-old has not been a prolific customer in the final third but showed positive signs in the 2021/22 season. But Semenyo has entered the final year of his contract with Bristol City and might depart from Ashton Gate before the summer transfer window shuts down. And Crystal Palace could offer him a new challenge this month.

Crystal Palace will look to sign a new striker before the summer transfer window shuts down as they have seen Christian Benteke depart from Selhurst Park. The Belgian international has left the London club to join Major League Soccer outfit DC United.

Benteke’s exit has left Patrick Vieira with only two recognised strikers at his disposal, those being Jean-Philippe Mateta and Odsonne Edouard. The need to sign a striker has thus accentuated for Crystal Palace, with the Eagles recently showing interest in Goncalo Ramos.

Bamba Dieng also features on Crystal Palace’s radar, but Semenyo will be a more versatile addition to Vieira’s squad as he can play on the flanks equally adeptly as he does through the centre. And the 22-year-old will not be a pricey acquisition either, with Bristol City demanding only £12 million to part ways with him.

With the Ghanaian international entering the final year of his contract with the EFL Championship club, a summer move to Crystal Palace might be on the cards. It will be interesting to see if the Eagles shell out £12 million to secure the services of Semenyo in the ongoing transfer window.
