Barcelona winger Ez Abde is reportedly closing in on completing a loan move across La Liga to Valencia this month.
According to a report by Spanish publication SPORT, Barcelona’s 20-year-old winger Ez Abde is closing in on completing a loan move to Valencia amid interest from multiple La Liga clubs. The young attacker will also extend his contract with the Catalan giants before finalising a move to the Mestalla.
Ez Abde joined Barcelona last summer from Spanish fourth division side Hercules CF in a €2 million move and also made his first-team debut for the Catalan giants in the 2021/22 season. He played ten matches in the league for Barcelona, scoring a goal as well.
However, with Xavi Hernandez having an abundance of attacking players at his disposal in the senior squad, especially wingers, the 20-year-old will not get enough chances to continue his development. Barcelona, too, are aware that staying put at Camp Nou would hamper the player’s progress, and are thus eager to ship the attacking prospect out on loan.
Barcelona are also aware that playing in the B team is not going to help Abde in the long run, leaving them no option but to look for a La Liga club to snap him up temporarily. Multiple clubs emerged as potential suitors, including the likes of Elche and Cadiz, but Valencia now seem to have taken the lead for his signature.
Abde will first sign a two-year contract extension with Barcelona, as per the report by SPORT, which will extend his stay at the club until 2026. The 20-year-old prospect will then join Valencia on a year-long loan deal, which will not include the option of making the move permanent.
Barcelona have signed a plethora of top players despite their financial struggles. They recently activated a fourth economic lever to register their new signings ahead of the start of the 2022/23 La Liga season.
Reportedly, only Jules Kounde, among their new signings, is yet to be registered, with Barcelona hoping that a player sale will help them register the Frenchman. The Blaugrana are also said to be closing in on a move for Manchester City playmaker Bernardo Silva.
