Leeds United, Crystal Palace eye Bamba Dieng

Marseille striker Bamba Dieng is a wanted man this summer, with Leeds United, Crystal Palace, and West Ham United among the clubs showing interest in him.

According to 90 min, Leeds United and Crystal Palace are part of a host of Premier League clubs interested in signing Marseille centre-forward Bamba Dieng. The 22-year-old Senegalese international is being courted by the likes of Newcastle United, West Ham United, Everton and Wolverhampton Wanderers as well.

Bamba Dieng’s loan move to Marseille was made permanent last summer, and the young striker showed great form in his first-ever season in the French top-flight. The Senegalese international scored seven goals and provided three assists in 972 minutes of league football across 25 matches.

The 22-year-old forward, who has been likened to Sadio Mane, first attracted interest from West Ham United and Newcastle in the January transfer window but chose to stay put in France. However, there has been a change in the situation since then, and he does not feature in new manager Igor Tudor’s plans extensively.

Therefore, a move could be on the cards in the ongoing transfer window, with multiple Premier League clubs showing interest in signing him. The report by 90 min claims Marseille are also keen to free up space and wage bill by offloading a few players to fund a move for Alexis Sanchez, who has been released by Inter Milan.

Leeds United and Crystal Palace are both keeping tabs on the 22-year-old striker but are also facing intense competition for his signing. Crystal Palace have offloaded Christian Benteke this summer, while Leeds need someone to be an alternative to Patrick Bamford.

Meanwhile, Newcastle United, West Ham United, Everton and Wolverhampton Wanderers are also exploring the possibility of getting the centre-forward on board. West Ham have already bolstered their attack by signing Gianluca Scamacca and Maxwel Cornet, so they might not pursue Dieng seriously.

The Senegalese has potential suitors in Spain and Germany as well, leaving him with enough options to choose from. He still has two years remaining on his contract with the Ligue 1 club but an exit now looks imminent. Dieng has represented Senegal in 11 matches as well, scoring one goal in the process.
