Catalan giants Barcelona reportedly want to sign Trent Alexander-Arnold from Liverpool in the 2023 summer transfer window in an €80 million deal.
According to Futbol Total CF, Trent Alexander-Arnold is the subject of interest from Barcelona over a possible move in the 2023 summer transfer window. The Catalan giants are ready to shell out around €80 million to secure the services of the Liverpool defender next year.
Trent Alexander-Arnold has established himself as one of the best full-backs in Europe since breaking into the first-team squad at Liverpool FC over half a decade ago. The 23-year-old has been a pivotal figure in one of Liverpool’s most successful modern-day periods, making a significant contribution to every trophy-winning campaign in the last few years.
The English international has already turned out over 200 times for Liverpool, chipping in with 13 goals and 62 assists. Alexander-Arnold’s progress has not gone unnoticed, with some of Europe’s most high-profile clubs, including Barcelona, setting their sights on him.
Barcelona wanted to sign Cesar Azpilicueta to replace Dani Alves in the summer transfer window. But the Chelsea captain has signed a new two-year contract with the west London club, forcing Barcelona to scour the market for alternatives for the veteran Spanish defender.

Several right-backs, including former La Masia trainee Mateu Morey, have emerged on the radar of Barcelona as alternatives for Azpilicueta. But with Sergino Dest facing an uncertain future at Camp Nou, Barcelona will have to consider signing two right-backs in the foreseeable future.
However, the Blaugrana might put off pursuing the second right-back until the 2023 summer transfer window, with Sergi Roberto likely to be the backup option for the position. But Barcelona might have kick-started the plan to bring in another right-back next year, as they plot an €80 million move for Liverpool defender Trent Alexander-Arnold.
The Catalan giants are in a much healthier financial state after activating multiple economic levers. But while Barcelona might be ready to shell out €80 million to sign Alexander-Arnold, Liverpool will likely block the move, considering he is one of the Reds’ most important players. So an €80 million move might never take off in the 2023 summer transfer window.
