Serie A giants Lazio are reportedly involved in a transfer tussle with Juventus and Napoli in the race to sign Barcelona outcast Miralem Pjanic.
According to a report by Spanish publication SPORT, Miralem Pjanic is the subject of interest from Lazio over a possible move in the summer transfer window. The Barcelona outcast is also a target for a few other Serie A clubs, including Juventus and Napoli, with his future at Camp Nou up in the air.
Miralem Pjanic has encountered a stumbling block in his career since joining Barcelona nearly two years ago. A stalwart in Serie A due to his spells with AS Roma and Juventus, the Bosnian international was once among the best midfielders in Europe but has seen his stock plummet.
The 32-year-old barely made any starts for Barcelona in the 2020/21 season before the Blaugrana shipped him out on loan to Besiktas last summer. But the Turkish giants have not signed him on a permanent deal, so Barcelona will need to find a way to get him off the books this summer. And Serie A giants Lazio want to sign Pjanic in the coming days.
The Italian heavyweights are in a spot of bother over the long-term futures of Sergej Milinkovic-Savic and Luis Alberto. The two Lazio midfielders could depart from Stadio Olimpico in the ongoing transfer window, with Milinkovic-Savic on the radars of several Premier League clubs and Alberto likely to return to Spain.
Lazio will thus need to invest in a midfielder in the summer transfer window, with Pjanic emerging as a viable target for the Biancocelesti. But the Serie A giants are not alone in the race to sign the Barcelona outcast, who has popped up on the radars of several Italian clubs this summer.
Juventus, Napoli, AC Milan, and Fiorentina are also keen on signing Pjanic, meaning Lazio will have a battle on their hands this summer. Tempting Pjanic will also be a tall order due to his previous stint with Serie A giants AS Roma, Lazio’s bitter rivals.

In addition, recent reports have claimed that Pjanic has offered himself to Juventus, so his preference is clear. For now, what seems clear is that the Barcelona outcast has no future at Camp Nou, and a return to Serie A is on the cards for him.
