West Ham United have joined the chase for Arnaud Kalimuendo, with Leeds United also interested in the PSG youngster.
According to Goal France, West Ham United are interested in Arnaud Kalimuendo, as they join Leeds United in the hunt for the 20-year-old PSG forward. The recent arrival of Hugo Ekitike in Paris blocks the striker’s progression, and he could be sold in this window.
Arnaud Kalimuendo showed his capability after a stellar season with Lens while on a loan deal in 2021/22. The PSG youngster was in inspired form, netting 13 goals in all competitions, including 12 strikes in Ligue 1.
Kalimuendo was hoping to get a chance to prove his worth with his parent club in the upcoming season, but new director Luis Campos has other ideas behind the scenes. While PSG continue to rate the 20-year-old forward, their intentions were made clear when they signed fellow exciting youngster Hugo Ekitike from Reims.
The arrival of Ekitike blocks Kalimuendo’s pathway into this PSG side, which already has a star-studded forward line. These circumstances are now forcing him to depart the club for new pastures.
Leeds United have been interested in the forward during this window, although they are yet to make advances with PSG for his transfer. The Whites have been keen to bolster their frontline after the departure of Raphinha, although the PSG star does play centrally more often. Given the lack of a reliable cover for Patrick Bamford, someone like Kalimuendo could come in handy.
West Ham United have become the latest Premier League side to join the chase as David Moyes continues to search for options to improve his team’s attack. The Hammers are keen despite tying up a deal to sign Gianluca Scamacca from Sassuolo only recently. Moyes could look at the 20-year-old as an additional option to improve West Ham’s attacking unit.
The manager also has a history of developing budding young stars, which could help Kalimuendo decide to join the Hammers. The lure of staying and playing in London could also be tempting for the 20-year-old to consider moving to West Ham. However, Moyes will have to move swiftly to secure Kalimuendo, as other teams are vying for his signature.
Indeed, there are several other Premier League teams apart from Leeds and West Ham United interested in Kalimuendo, and he could have a choice of clubs from England before making a firm decision on his next destination.
