La Liga champions Real Madrid have reportedly set their sights on 20-year-old French attacker Georginio Rutter, who currently represents Hoffenheim.
According to a report by Spanish publication AS, Georginio Rutter is the subject of interest from Real Madrid over a possible move in the summer transfer window. The reigning La Liga champions will delve into the market for the 20-year-old Hoffenheim striker if Marco Asensio, Borja Mayoral, and Mariano Diaz depart from the Santiago Bernabeu.
Georginio Rutter spent his formative years in his homeland France, representing Menimur and Vannes before graduating from the Stade Rennais academy nearly half a decade ago. But the young French attacker departed from the Ligue 1 outfit soon after making his first-team debut, joining Hoffenheim 18 months back.
The 20-year-old has made gradual progress at the Bundesliga club, chipping in with nine goals and five assists in 46 appearances thus far. But even though Rutter has captured the attention of several European bigwigs, including Real Madrid, even though he has not produced eye-catching numbers at Hoffenheim.
Real Madrid might have to enter the market for an attacking reinforcement despite some recent comments by Carlo Ancelotti. The Real Madrid manager has insisted that Los Blancos will not sign another player in the summer transfer window after bringing in Antonio Rudiger and Aurelien Tchouameni.
But the Spanish giants are backed into a corner as Borja Mayoral, Mariano Diaz, and Marco Asensio face uncertain futures at the Santiago Bernabeu. Mayoral is the likeliest candidate to leave Real Madrid amid heavy links with Getafe. And Real Madrid will have to take decisive action if Mariano and Asensio also seal their respective exits this summer.
Several strikers, including Sasa Kalajdzic, Benjamin Sesko, Noah Okafor, and a few others have popped up on Real Madrid’s radar over a possible move in the summer transfer window. And Rutter is one of the names on their wishlist.
However, the 20-year-old French attacker might be the least convincing of the targets, although Real Madrid might have seen something in him to identify him as a possible option. But a move will only materialise if Asensio, Mayoral and Mariano depart from the Bernabeu.
