Tottenham Hotspur have reportedly offered out-of-favour defender Sergio Reguilon to Serie A bigwigs Inter Milan this summer.
According to Calciomercato, Tottenham Hotspur are intent on getting rid of Spanish left-back Sergio Reguilon this summer and have been offering his services to clubs across Europe, including Inter Milan.
Reguilon joined Tottenham in the summer of 2020 from Real Madrid. The 25-year-old arrived after an impressive loan spell at Sevilla, during which he helped them win the UEFA Europa League. However, despite showing glimpses of his quality, the Spanish international has never been able to nail down a place in the Tottenham lineup.
Reguilon’s situation only worsened following the arrival of Antonio Conte as manager midway through the last season. The Italian favoured youngster Ryan Sessegnon over Reguilon for the most part and then brought in Ivan Perisic this summer to render the former Real Madrid ace surplus to requirements at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
Reguilon was left out of the squad that travelled to Asia for Tottenham’s pre-season camp. A return to Spain has been mooted, with Sevilla showing an interest in the 25-year-old. A shock transfer to Barcelona has also been talked about although the Catalans might not consider signing him due to his past with Real Madrid.
Now, Inter Milan have also emerged as a potential destination for Reguilon, with Tottenham offering the 25-year-old left-back to Antonio Conte’s former employers.
Having lost Ivan Perisic to the Lilywhites, Inter Milan are a player short in the left wing-back department as Robin Gosens has been left as the only natural player in the position. Federico Dimarco could be an alternative but Simone Inzaghi has preferred to use him as a left-sided centre-back over the past year. So, there could be room for a new left-sided wing-back in the Nerazzurri squad.
However, the report does not mention if the Italian giants hold any interest in signing Reguilon. Furthermore, given their difficult financial situation, whether they can afford a move for the Tottenham Hotspur ace remains the big question. So, a transfer to San Siro seems unlikely for the Spaniard, who could be on his way back to his homeland, with Sevilla emerging as the likeliest destination.
