Real Madrid have reportedly extended the contract of highly-rated attacking prodigy Peter Federico until June 30, 2025.
According to a report by Spanish publication MARCA, Real Madrid prodigy Peter Federico has penned a contract extension with the Spanish club, which would keep him at the Santiago Bernabeu until June 30, 2025. The agreement was made official on Tuesday, July 27, after all parties involved came to terms with the conditions on offer in the new contract.
Currently with Real Madrid Castilla, Peter’s previous contract ran until 2024, which has now been extended by another year. The 20-year-old attacker joined the club’s famed La Fabrica academy in 2015 and has since progressed through the ranks.
The winger has shown impressive form for the Castilla side in recent times, compelling Real Madrid to offer him a first-team debut. Peter represented the senior team in three La Liga matches last season as Los Blancos comfortably won the league title.
In all, Peter has made 69 appearances for Real Madrid across age groups, scoring seven times and assisting ten goals. A winger by trade, the 20-year-old can play on either flank but prefers the right wing. He can also double up as a second striker.
While the attacking prodigy’s contract length has been increased by a year, it still has a €50 million release clause. But according to the report by MARCA, Peter has been offered improved wages by as well for his solid performances for Real Madrid Castilla last season.
The likes of Real Valladolid, Getafe, Celta Vigo, Osasuna and Espanyol were all showing interest in the youngster, while Feyenoord were also tracking Peter’s situation. Some reports claimed Manchester City were interested in signing the 20-year-old attacking prodigy as well.
However, Real Madrid were quick to act and have now tied down the winger on a longer contract. It remains to be seen whether the youngster is provided with more first-team opportunities in the upcoming season.
Los Blancos have signed two players in the ongoing summer transfer window. Centre-back Antonio Rudiger has arrived on a free transfer from Chelsea, while highly-rated midfielder Aurelien Tchouameni has been signed from AS Monaco. Real Madrid are likely done with their summer business unless several players leave.
