West Ham United will reportedly look to sign Abdou Diallo in the summer transfer window, with PSG demanding €20 million for him.
According to a report by Media Foot Marseille, Abdou Diallo is the subject of interest from West Ham United over a possible move in the summer transfer window. Paris Saint-Germain will demand around €20 million to part ways with the Senegalese international.
Abdou Diallo joined Paris Saint-Germain in July 2019 after a one-year stint with Borussia Dortmund. But the 26-year-old has struggled to establish a foothold in the first-team squad at Parc des Princes, with Thiago Silva, Marquinhos, Presnel Kimpembe, and Sergio Ramos all preferred to him in the last three seasons.
The Senegalese international has turned out only 75 times thus far for PSG, averaging just 25 appearances per season. And amid PSG’s eagerness to sign Milan Skriniar, things might go from bad to worse for Diallo. West Ham United could offer him an escape route out of PSG.
The interest from West Ham United is a tad-bit surprising, considering they have already secured the services of Nayef Aguerd. But Issa Diop faces an uncertain future at the London Stadium, with the Hammers ready to cash in on the 25-year-old centre-back in the summer transfer window.
Diop is the subject of interest from Fulham this summer, and his departure will open up a spot in West Ham’s defensive unit. And with Angelo Ogbonna well into his thirties, it is clear why the east Londoners have set their sights on signing Diallo from PSG ahead of the 2022/23 season.
The Senegalese international comes with a price tag of €20 million, with PSG ready to recoup just over half of the sum they shelled out to secure his services three years ago. Coughing up €20 million might not be beyond West Ham United’s means, despite the expensive acquisitions of Aguerd and Gianluca Scamacca.
In addition to West Ham, Diallo is also a target for Stade Rennais, meaning the Hammers will have a battle on their hands to land the 26-year-old. It will be interesting to see if PSG will be able to recoup the €20 million they seek from Diallo’s sale, with West Ham and Rennes keen on securing his services.
