Tottenham Hotspur will reportedly have to shell out €50 million to stand a chance of signing AS Roma attacker Nicolo Zaniolo.
According to a report by Spanish outlet Fichajes, Antonio Conte has identified AS Roma winger Nicolo Zaniolo as the final piece of the jigsaw as he aims to make Tottenham Hotspur a Premier League title-contending team.
Spurs have been highly active in the ongoing transfer window and have provided Conte with every possible means to build a formidable squad that can challenge for the biggest trophies. Tottenham have signed six players so far to address the shortcomings of their squad from last season.
The north London outfit have already added Fraser Forster, Yves Bissouama, Clement Lenglet, Ivan Perisic, Djed Spence, and Richarlison to their roster but are in the market for one more signing. AS Roma attacker Nicolo Zaniolo could be that one player, but Tottenham will have to spend a considerable amount to land the Italian international.
Spurs first established contact with Zaniolo’s entourage last month and have since been exploring the possibility to get him on board. Tottenham are reportedly waiting to clear some of the deadwood from their squad before making an official approach to Roma, who value Zaniolo at €50 million.
Juventus have also been tracking the situation of the Italian winger, who has two years remaining on his contract with Roma. But the Bianconeri have failed to reach an agreement with their Serie A rivals, giving Tottenham a major boost in their pursuit of the winger.
The north London outfit are currently trying to sell the likes of Giovani Lo Celso, Tanguy Ndombele and Sergio Reguilon before trying to sign another player. The report claims that Spurs could also include one of their out-of-favour players in a deal to sign Zaniolo and bring his €50 million price tag down.
The player is keen to leave AS Roma to play for a ‘bigger club’ and Tottenham now seem the favourites to land him this summer. The Italian international is said to be waiting for an offer from Tottenham, and so are Roma, who have just signed Paulo Dybala on a free transfer from Juventus.
