Premier League duo Leeds United and Everton have been offered the opportunity to sign out-of-favour PSG defender Layvin Kurzawa.
According to Media Foot, Everton and Leeds United have an opportunity to sign Paris Saint-Germain defender Layvin Kurzawa in the ongoing transfer window.
Both the English clubs are coming off a poor 2021/22 campaign that saw them flirt with relegation. Ultimately Burnley took the fall, leaving Leeds United and Everton the opportunity to consolidate themselves in the Premier League.
The two Premier League clubs will be keen to do better in the upcoming season and could do with an infusion of quality. Kurzawa might not be the hottest talent available, but the Frenchman is a veteran who will add much-needed experience to the left-back spot.
Everton have lacked a clear-cut first choice option in the position since the departure of Leighton Baines. Vitaliy Mykolenko arrived at Goodison Park last January, and to his credit, has made a decent case for himself as a first-teamer. The Toffees signed Niels Nkounkou earlier in 2020, but the 21-year-old has so far shown little to suggest that he can thrive at the top level.
Signing Kurzawa will hand Frank Lampard a player with a proven UEFA Champions League pedigree and experience of playing for a PSG side that sets high expectations from its players every season. New sporting director Luis Campos does not consider the 29-year-old to be a part of the long-term plans and is keen to move the player on this summer.
Kurzawa’s game time at Parc des Princes has taken a hit in recent seasons and is far from assured regular game time in the French capital. A move to Everton is admittedly a step-down but will offer him the chance to take on a starting role and rekindle his career.
Leeds have had a summer overhaul of sorts, and have brought in several young talents. However, the loss of experienced duo Kalvin Phillips and Raphinha will be a difficult blow to overcome. Jesse Marsch’s influx of youth must be supplemented with experienced stalwarts.
Junior Firpo was brought in last summer but endured a difficult debut season at Elland Road. Leeds could do with someone who can not only compete with Firpo but also offer him guidance on the field. Kurzawa has been a long-serving player for PSG and has experienced much success with the Ligue 1 giants.
However, his relationship with the club appears to have reached a point of no return, and a move elsewhere would be the best way forward. A summer switch to either Everton or Leeds United could be a win-win for all parties involved.
