Everton preparing new offer to sign Morgan Gibbs-White

Everton are reportedly preparing a new offer for 22-year-old Wolverhampton Wanderers midfielder Morgan Gibbs-White.

According to Football Insider, Premier League club Everton are confident of completing the signing of Morgan Gibbs-White from Wolverhampton Wanderers. The Toffees are said to be preparing a new offer for the English midfielder after seeing one bid rejected from Wolverhampton Wanderers.

The Merseyside giants have been in a serious pursuit of the 22-year-old since the transfer window opened. Frank Lampard believes Gibbs-White would be a good addition to the side, after Everton recently lost Richarlison to Tottenham Hotspur.

The Wolverhampton Wanderers youth product is a versatile attacking midfielder who can also play as a second striker. This trait of the 22-year-old seems to have convinced Everton to make a move for him. They reportedly had a £25 million bid rejected for Gibbs-White but are confident that their next offer will be enough.

Wolves are open to the idea of selling Gibbs-White, who has made just 46 Premier League appearances for them, most of which have come from the bench. He was sent out on a season-long loan for the 2021/22 campaign to Sheffield United after failing to cement a starting spot at the Molineux.

Gibbs-White impressed in his short stay at Bramall Lane, scoring 12 times and assisting ten goals for the Blades. He is said to be keen on completing a move to Goodison Park, with Everton set to submit a new offer soon.

The Toffees had a dismal 2021/22 season, as they finished 16th to narrowly avoid the embarrassment of relegation. Everton are eager to strengthen in multiple positions to avoid a repeat of last term, but the departure of Richarlison has made things a tad difficult for them.

Nevertheless, they have completed the signing of centre-back James Tarkowski on a free transfer. The England international’s contract with Burnley ran out this summer, and he was thus free to join another club on a Bosman move.

Lampard will want to close the Gibbs-White deal soon to focus on other summer targets. Leeds United and Crystal Palace were also said to be showing interest in the 22-year-old attacking midfielder, but Everton now lead the race.
