Barcelona interested in re-signing Sergi Altimira

Barcelona are reportedly considering re-signing former midfield prospect Sergi Altimira from CE Sabadell this summer.

According to Albert Roge of Relevo, Barcelona are contemplating the possibility of re-signing former La Masia midfielder Sergi Altimira from CE Sabadell in the ongoing transfer window.

Altimira spent the early parts of his youth career at Barcelona’s famed La Masia setup and progressed up until the Under-18 level before leaving for Sabadell in 2019. After a year with his new team’s Under-19 side, the midfielder spent the 2020/21 campaign on loan at Granollers before returning to Sabadell.

Altimira was included in the first-team setup at the club in the last season, and he played 29 times across all competitions for the Spanish third division side. And now, the 20-year-old Cardedeu-born midfielder has popped back on the radars of Barcelona, who are considering re-signing him this summer.

While Barcelona have ambitious plans for their first-team setup, they are also dedicating special focus to their youth recruitment to strengthen the La Masia ranks as well as the Barça Atletic squad.

Barcelona have already made several exciting youth signings this summer, having brought in Pablo Torre, Emre Demir, Nil Ruiz and Alvaro Nunez. They are also closing in on the capture of 18-year-old left-back Roman Vega from Argentinos Juniors, with the teenager set to join on loan with an option to buy.

Barcelona are also on the verge of signing Alberto Moleiro from UD Las Palmas, although the exciting Spanish attacking midfielder is likely to be loaned back to the Canary Islands club for the upcoming campaign.

Now, the Blaugrana have set their sights on their former La Masia prospect Sergi Altimira. The report states that Sabadell are open to a sale but are pointing toward the midfielder’s exit clause to sanction his departure. However, Barcelona are hoping to negotiate a fee with the lower league outfit for the 20-year-old.

Apart from Barcelona, Altimira is also attracting interest from La Liga 2 sides such as Albacete and Villarreal B. So the Catalan heavyweights will likely have to act fast if they wish to re-sign the 20-year-old Spaniard from Sabadell this summer.
