La Liga heavyweights Barcelona are reportedly on the verge of securing the services of 20-year-old Spanish attacker Roberto Fernandez Jaen.
According to a report by Spanish outlet Diario Sur, Roberto Fernandez Jaen is the subject of interest from Barcelona over a possible move in the summer transfer window. The 20-year-old forward is closing on moving to the Catalan club from Malaga, with the two clubs reaching an agreement over a season-long loan deal.
Roberto Fernandez Jaen is a native of Puente Genil in Spain and started his youth career at his local club in Andalusia before representing three other clubs during his formative years. The Spanish attacker went through the academies of Cordoba CF and Sevilla before graduating from the Malaga youth setup last year.
The 20-year-old has come leaps and bounds since joining Los Boquerones in 2018 and made his first-team debut for the Andalusian club in August 2021 before even playing for the reserves. And Roberto has since turned out 33 further times for Malaga, chipping in with three goals and one assist in the process.
But according to Diario Sur, Roberto does not feature in Malaga’s plans for the 2022/23 season, which is why they are loaning him out in the summer transfer window. And the youngster’s next destination seems to be Barcelona, with the two clubs moving quickly in negotiations over a move.
According to @DiarioSUR Roberto will play next season on loan for the FC Barcelona B team. According to Sur Malaga and Barça have already reached an agreement in which there is an option to buy him at the end of the season. The report claims that Barcelona and Malaga have reached an agreement over a season-long loan deal for the 20-year-old. The Catalan giants will also have the option to sign Roberto permanently in next summer’s transfer window for a nominal sum of €1 million.
The Spanish attacker is now poised to join Barcelona B instead of the first-team setup at Camp Nou, with the report claiming that he is excited for the new opportunity that his career has to offer to him.
The Catalan giants are generally active in the market to sign promising youngsters for their academy La Masia and subsidiary team. The Blaugrana recently tried to sign Noel Lopez before he joined bitter rival Real Madrid instead.
As for Roberto, the 20-year-old Spanish attacker will hope to continue his progress after moving to Catalonia on loan this summer. With Ferran Jutgla no longer at the Catalan club, Barcelona needed an able replacement, which Roberto could be in the coming season.
