La Liga heavyweights Real Madrid have secured the services of 16-year-old Spanish wonderkid Erik Vazquez, who has arrived from Girona.
According to a report by Defensa Central, Erik Vazquez is the latest prodigious attacker to join Real Madrid’s youth setup. The 16-year-old wonderkid has arrived from Girona, bolstering Los Blancos’ famed academy La Fabrica ahead of the 2022/23 season.
Erik Vazquez has spent his formative years with Girona and is one of the most promising young wingers in Spain right now. The Spanish wonderkid has been on a tear in age-group football in the country in the last few years, attracting scouts to watch him in action for various youth teams at Girona.
A tactically versatile attacker, Vazquez is capable of playing on either flank and is quite prolific for a player reprising a role on the wings. In the recently-concluded season, the 16-year-old impressed with his ability to play for a team beyond his years, as he turned out for Girona’s Juvenil B and Juvenil A sides, going up to the under-19 level already. So it is hardly surprising that Real Madrid came calling for him this summer.
The Spanish giants are renowned for poaching the best young attackers in Spain and beyond to bolster La Fabrica and Real Madrid Castilla. And Florentino Perez has been particular about adding to the club’s Spanish core in the last half a decade, with that outlook fetching Real Madrid current first-team stars Marco Asensio, Dani Ceballos, and Dani Ceballos.

The Merengues have also been active in adding to the Spanish contingent at the youth levels, most recently securing the services of Noel Lopez ahead of Barcelona, Liverpool, and Manchester United. And the latest Spanish wonderkid to join Real Madrid is Erik Vazquez.
Vazquez will turn out for Real Madrid’s Juvenil C side, even though he was already at the under-19 level this past season while playing for Girona. But the Spanish giants are optimistic about the 16-year-old’s quick progression and reckon he will be representing the Juvenil A team in no time.
It will not be surprising to see Erik Vazquez progress to the reserve level quickly, with Los Blancos projecting him to play for Real Madrid Castilla soon. It will be interesting to see if the Spanish wonderkid continues his rapid progress after moving to Real Madrid from Girona.
