SS Lazio vs UC Cremonese Preview: Probable Lineups, Prediction, Tactics, Team News & Key Stats.

Mario Gila is on the cusp of leaving Real Madrid, with Serie A giants Lazio reportedly set to sign the 21-year-old defender permanently.

According to a report by Spanish publication MARCA, Mario Gila’s stint with Real Madrid will end in the summer transfer window. The Spanish defender is on the verge of joining Lazio permanently, with the Serie A reserving 50 per cent of his rights while giving Real Madrid a right of first refusal.

Mario Gila is a native of Barcelona who spent his formative years with half a dozen clubs before graduating from the Real Madrid academy. The 21-year-old has been with Los Blancos since 2018 and has made swift progress in the Spanish capital in the last four years, becoming a pivotal figure for Real Madrid Castilla.

The Spanish defender earned his Real Madrid first-team bow this past season and made a couple of appearances after they had sealed the league title. But Gila’s stint with the Merengues will end in the summer transfer window as he will not be a first-team regular anytime soon. And the young defender’s next destination seems to be Serie A, with Lazio on the verge of signing him.

Lazio initially wanted to sign Mario Gila in a loan deal while reserving the option to sign him permanently from Real Madrid next year. But they seem set to sign him permanently instead. The Serie A giants have lost Luiz Felipe as a free agent, while the rest of their central defensive arsenal does not inspire much confidence.

While Patric is a solid customer at the heart of the Lazio defence, Francesco Acerbi and Stefan Radu are well into their thirties. In addition, Acerbi faces an uncertain future at Stadio Olimpico amid links with fellow Serie A giants AC Milan and Inter Milan. So the Biancocelesti will need to invest in a centre-back this summer on a priority basis.

Gila could be a solid addition to Maurizio Sarri’s squad, with the 21-year-old having a high ceiling. And while he might not have been able to establish a foothold in the first-team setup at Real Madrid, he should have a bright future in Serie A with Lazio.

According to MARCA, Lazio will sign the Spanish defender permanently, but Real Madrid will reserve 50 per cent of his rights, a formula that has worked well for them lately. In addition, Real Madrid will also have the right of first refusal, making it a solid deal from their perspective. As for Gila, the youngster is set to embark on a new adventure in Serie A.
