West Ham United might have to pay €45 million for Arnaut Danjuma

West Ham United will need to break the bank and pay €45 million to land Dutch forward Arnaut Danjuma from La Liga club Villarreal this summer.

According to  Toni Juanmarti on Twitter, Premier League club West Ham United will need to fork out €45 million to land Villarreal star Arnaut Danjuma this summer.

The Dutch international has experienced a new lease of life since his move to the Estadio de la Ceramica last summer. He played a key role in the Yellow Submarines’ run to the UEFA Champions League semi-finals and has more or less rebuilt his reputation as a player to watch out for in La Liga.

West Ham are in the market for attacking reinforcements and could orchestrate a coup by signing the 25-year-old attacker. Danjuma is predominantly a striker but can also do a job on the left-wing or as a secondary attacker. This versatility will hold him in good stead should he return to the Premier League for a second inning.

The Villarreal man spent a couple of seasons at Bournemouth, one of which was in the Premier League. Unfortunately, injuries largely saw him struggle in the English top-flight, and Danjuma saw his stock plummet. To his credit, the 25-year-old is today a much-improved player and would offer much more than his former self.

West Ham, for their part, are set to compete in Europe for the second season in a row and have punched above their weight under David Moyes of late. However, they lack cover upfront and are largely reliant on Michail Antonio to lead the line. While Jarrod Bowen can do a job when needed, he is better off on the right flank where he is the most effective.

Bringing in Danjuma will give Moyes an attacker of the highest level and well capable of thriving in a counter-attacking system. Not only is the Dutchman an able dribbler, but he is also clinical in front of goal with pace to burn. These attributes could see him make it big in the Premier League should he get the application right at West Ham.

Villarreal, for their part, are open to a sale and are seeking a fee of around €45 million. Given that the club from La Liga are ready to break down the amount to include variables, it would suit West Ham to go all out. Landing a player of Danjuma’s quality is nothing short of a coup for the Hammers, and they will do well not to let the opportunity slip.

As things stand, West Ham and Villarreal continue to be in contact but are yet to agree on a fee. Danjuma has also been linked to several other top European sides, and it is in West Ham’s best interest to ensure that they get a deal over the line before others get involved.
