Portuguese giants Sporting CP are reportedly the front-runners to secure the services of Barcelona forward Francisco Trincao this summer.

According to a report by Portuguese publication Record, Sporting CP will likely secure the services of Francisco Trincao in the summer transfer window. But the Portuguese giants want Barcelona to accept a two-year loan deal to agree to include the option to buy the young attacker for €20 million in 2024.

Francisco Trincao had the world at his feet when he joined Barcelona from SC Braga nearly two years ago. But the 22-year-old struggled to nail down his spot in the starting lineups at Camp Nou, falling near the bottom of the pecking order for wide-attackers. And after a difficult debut season, Barcelona loaned him out to Wolverhampton Wanderers last summer.

The Portuguese forward did not set the stage alight at Wolverhampton Wanderers either, but he featured more prominently at the Molineux, making 30 appearances while chipping in with three goals and an assist. But Wolves are not signing Trincao permanently from Barcelona, who will look to find an alternative solution for the youngster in the summer transfer window.

Trincao does not have a shortage of suitors, with Leeds United considering a summer move for the Barcelona forward. He is also a target for several Portuguese giants, with Sporting CP the most notable of the clubs chasing his signature.

To that end, the Portuguese giants are negotiating the final terms of the deal to sign Trincao. According to Record, Sporting CP will agree to include the option to sign Trincao permanently for €20 million if Barcelona will let them have the 22-year-old on loan for the next two seasons.
