Leeds United in talks with Tyler Adams

Leeds United are exploring the possibility of signing RB Leipzig midfielder Tyler Adams this summer.

According to a report from Yorkshire Evening Post, Leeds United have expressed interest in Tyler Adams. The club’s director Victor Orta is talking to the RB Leipzig midfielder over the possibility of a summer move to Elland Road. He is rated highly by head coach Jesse Marsch, and the American tactician is keen on a reunion in Yorkshire.

Marsch’s long association with the Red Bull franchise has seen him dominate Leeds’ recruitment policy this summer. The Whites have already brought in two players from RB Salzburg in the form of Brenden Aaronson and Rasmus Kristensen. They have also signed Marc Roca, who Marsch knew closely from his time in the Bundesliga.

Leeds United could be in for yet another acquisition from the Red Bull franchise in the form of Tyler Adams. The midfielder has been a target for the Yorkshire outfit for quite some time now due to his aggression and energy in the middle of the park.

Although a central midfielder by trade, Adams is one of the most versatile players in the Leipzig setup. He is capable of operating as a holding midfielder or a wide midfielder. He has even played as a right-back at times, making him an ideal option for a club like Leeds United.

The Whites have struggled with a plethora of injury-related issues in the past couple of years. In addition, they are all set to lose inspiring midfielder Kalvin Phillips who is on the verge of completing a move to Manchester City.

Phillips’ exit could leave a massive void in the Leeds United midfield and that is where Tyler Adams could come into the fray. The American international can serve as the main holding midfielder, thus allowing more freedom for new signing Marc Roca when it comes to rotating possession and dictating the tempo of the game.

The potential midfield partnership between Roca and Adams is sure to add more stability to the Leeds United midfield. However, RB Leipzig will be wary of losing the American given that they are already set to part ways with Konrad Laimer.

Although the east German giants have brought in Xaver Schlager from VfL Wolfsburg, it would require a sizable offer from Leeds United to convince the Bundesliga side to cash in on the 23-year-old Adams this summer.
