Tottenham ready to offer Joe Rodon in deal to sign Nicolo Zaniolo

Tottenham Hotspur are reportedly prepared to include Joe Rodon in any potential deal to sign Nicolo Zaniolo from Roma.

According to 90 min, Tottenham Hotspur have offered centre-back Joe Rodon as part of a deal to sign Roma winger Nicolo Zaniolo. The north London club have reportedly established contact with the Serie A giants over a possible deal for the 22-year-old attacker.

Tottenham are preparing for a major summer overhaul and have identified multiple positions to strengthen ahead of the 2022/23 season. They reportedly have a £150 million war chest to spend in the transfer window and have already completed two signings without spending a penny. The move for Yves Bissouma did not set the north Londoners back by much either.

Spurs are eager to add reinforcements in the attacking unit and have been linked with multiple forwards from the Premier League, including the likes of Gabriel Jesus, Richarlison, Raphinha and Raheem Sterling. But as has been the case this summer, with Conte at the helm, Tottenham are being linked with quite a few Serie A stars.

AS Roma’s Nicolo Zaniolo is another player of interest, and official contact has been made with the Serie A club for a possible summer deal. The Italian international still has two years left on his contract, and the report claims that the 22-year-old could come cheaper than the other players Tottenham are monitoring.

After missing the 2020/21 season due to an ACL injury, Zaniolo largely remained injury-free in the recently-concluded campaign, making 42 appearances for Jose Mourinho’s side. He scored eight times and assisted nine goals in those matches, also scoring the only goal of their UEFA Europa Conference League final win over Feyenoord.

Tottenham have also made possible player-plus-cash offers to Roma, including a proposal including centre-back Joe Rodon. The Welsh international has not been able to cement a starting spot at Spurs since joining them from Swansea City in 2020, making just 24 appearances across competitions in two seasons.

Interestingly, it was Mourinho who signed Rodon for the north London club in the summer transfer window of 2020. Spurs are also in talks with Middlesbrough for right-back Djed Spence and have had a long-standing interest in the full-back, who spent the last season on loan at Nottingham Forest.
