West Ham United are plotting a summer move for Feyenoord star Orkun Kokcu.
According to Fabrizio Romano on Twitter, Premier League side West Ham United are plotting a move for Feyenoord star Orkun Kokcu in the ongoing 2022 summer transfer window.
The 21-year-old has been with the Dutch giants since 2014 and has since been steadily making a name for himself in the Eredivisie. A central midfielder who can also contribute to the attack, the Turkish international has scored 20 goals and assisted 22 more in a mere 129 appearances for De Stadionclub.
The youngster is a competent presence in the middle of the park and possesses an excellent eye for a pass. He has good tactical awareness and is also capable of taking a punt at the goal from distance. There is every reason to believe that Kokcu can develop into a dynamic presence in midfield. And West Ham United have taken an interest in Kokcu.
David Moyes is making a difference at the London Stadium, and the Hammers will now embark on their second straight season in Europe. However, it could be a busy summer for the Irons as they look to add quality depth across all areas of the pitch.
Declan Rice and Tomas Soucek have built a solid partnership in the middle of the park and have provided West Ham with the steel they need. However, there has been some speculation regarding the future of the England international, although it is unlikely that the Hammers will let him go this summer.
Furthermore, Croatian star Nikola Vlasic could also be on the move, thinning Moyes’s options in attacking midfield. Nevertheless, with Mark Noble retiring and Alex Kral returning after his loan spell, West Ham United need to add a new midfielder to maintain depth in the squad to navigate multiple competitions, making Kokcu a viable target.
Kokcu still is rough around the edges and needs to refine his game, but has shown plenty of potential in his career so far. Given he is adept at playing in multiple roles in midfield, the youngster can be a shrewd buy for West Ham. However, the Hammers will face competition from several clubs who are also keeping tabs on the 21-year-old. Whether the Premier League side will act fast remains to be seen.
