Manchester United preparing fresh offer for Evanilson

Manchester United are ready to fork out €70 million for the services of FC Porto attacker Evanilson.

FC Porto are losing their star players left and right this summer. They have already had to bid farewell to Chancel Mbemba and Fabio Vieira so far, and they could lose yet another star in the form of Evanilson, amid interest from Manchester United. This is what Portuguese outlet Jornal de Noticias (h/t Sport Witness) report, with the Premier League giants weighing up a fresh bid for Evanilson.

Manchester United had earlier attempted to sign the forward with a bid of around €60 million, plus €5 million in bonuses, which was rejected by FC Porto. They are now prepared to offer €70 million, plus add-ons, which is a lot closer to Benfica’s desired valuation of around €80 million. This is according to Jornal de Noticias.

Manchester United’s interest in Evanilson is hardly surprising after they missed out on Darwin Nunez this summer. The talented Uruguayan international ended up joining arch-rivals Liverpool, forcing the Red Devils to scour the market for a young striker capable of partnering Cristiano Ronaldo in the coming season.

Evanilson fits the bill perfectly as the 22-year-old has shown immense potential since his move to FC Porto in 2020. In just two years, he has racked up 25 goals in 69 competitive outings, impressing the onlookers with his productivity up top.

In addition to his goalscoring prowess, the former Fluminense prodigy has shown technical ability and is capable of holding the ball at his feet. It makes him a valuable option for Manchester United, who are in desperate need of a reliable centre-forward following the exit of Edinson Cavani.

Evanilson’s pace and goalscoring ability could make him an excellent attacking partner for Ronaldo if Erik ten Hag decides to play them together, while he can be an effective backup option to have. The two can potentially combine well to make Manchester United one of the most lethal teams in the Premier League, especially with the Red Devils also on the verge of signing Antony.

That said, another Portuguese news outlet Record suggests Manchester United are unlikely to sign Evanilson due to Vitinha’s apparent move to Paris Saint-Germain. If he joins the French giants this summer, FC Porto will rule out the exit of Evanilson as they do not want to lose any more star players from the team.
