Fulham have Andriy Yarmolenko in their sights, with Marco Silva probably looking at him as an experienced attacking addition.
According to Ukrainian commentator and transfer insider Viktor Vatsko (h/t HITC), Andriy Yarmolenko is a target for newly-promoted Fulham, as Marco Silva eyes an experienced attacker to his setup. The Cottagers could get the Ukrainian winger on a free transfer to add valuable depth option to the squad.
Andriy Yarmolenko’s time at West Ham United is ending after four decent seasons with the London club. The winger joined the Hammers after a solitary season with Borussia Dortmund when he was at the peak of his powers. His career in the English capital was far from brilliant, as he struggled for relevance under Moyes.
The West Ham United boss used him conservatively off the bench last season, with Yarmolenko making only one start in his 19 Premier League appearances. With the Ukranian’s contract expiring at the end of the month, he has offers from the Middle East and MLS clubs.
However, there is an opportunity for Yarmolenko to remain in London, a city where he is settled. Fulham are keen on the winger, with Marco Silva keen on adding an experienced presence to his attacking setup. The Cottagers are back in the Premier League and have made plans to remain there for seasons to come.
Silva aims to build a team to fight off a potential relegation battle, as the pressure will be on them from day one. The manager has the backing of the board, who are willing to sanction significant funds to shore up the squad.
The Portuguese manager is keen on a reliable midfielder and supporting attackers from wide areas. They have been linked with Musa Barrow and Manor Salomon, among other forwards, but the links to Yarmolenko suggest Silva could also be looking at experienced options.
Yarmolenko could be a good squad option for Silva in the upcoming season. The Ukrainian has considerable Premier League experience to help out a side like Fulham, who could look to secure him on a short-term deal. The veteran winger could be tempted by the prospect of remaining in London, although he will have to take a big pay cut to stay in the Premier League.
West Ham are already looking at replacements, with Ismaila Sarr a potential target. While they have no regrets about letting the winger run down his contract, they are losing a good squad option who could change games from the bench.
Fulham are said to be the frontrunners to sign Yarmolenko, although the Ukrainian could weigh in on other proposals from clubs abroad. Remaining in London could be considered an attractive option for him though, and it will be interesting to see if he makes the switch to Craven Cottage.
