Fulham set to launch bid for Neco Williams

Fulham are set to launch an offer for Neco Williams, with the Liverpool right-back attracting plenty of suitors from the Premier League.

According to GOAL, Fulham are poised to launch a bid for Neco Williams with the right-back free to leave Liverpool in this window. The 21-year-old Welsh international is on the radar of multiple clubs, including Nottingham Forest and Southampton.

Neco Williams has been one of Liverpool’s rising prospects in the last few years under Jurgen Klopp. Unfortunately for him, Trent Alexander-Arnold occupies the first-choice right-back position. He has shown no inclination to give up his place just yet, which has hampered the Welsh international’s path.

With game time essential for Williams to aid his development further, Liverpool are seeking to sell him in this window, with the club hopeful of getting a significant fee from suitors. Fortunately, they have already secured Calvin Ramsay from Aberdeen, thus paving the way for the Welsh star to depart.

Nottingham Forest and Fulham had been early admirers for the 21-year-old, and reports suggested they had already made bids in the region of £12 million. However, GOAL insists the Reds are seeking a total package of at least £15 million, including bonuses.

Southampton have also approached Liverpool for Williams recently, which makes the chase for the 21-year-old interesting. The Saints have shown an inclination to develop young stars under Ralph Hasenhuttl in recent seasons, which could make them an exciting destination for the right-back.

However, Fulham are reportedly ready to make a new offer for Williams, although the particulars of the bid are currently under wraps. The Cottagers could seek to come closer to Liverpool’s asking price, giving them an upper hand in negotiations.

Williams spent the second half of last season at Fulham, helping them win the Championship and seek promotion to the Premier League. Marco Silva is keen to retain the full-back permanently, and the player seems to be open to a switch to Craven Cottage.

Whether Fulham are successful with their bid for Williams remains in question, although the London side are confident they could find an agreement with Liverpool. With the World Cup later this year, it could be a good move for Williams, who performed well under Silva last term and could help them stay in the top-flight next season.
