Ligue 1 giants Marseille are reportedly keen on signing Spanish prodigy Nico Gonzalez, while five La Liga clubs want to sign Oscar Mingueza.
According to a report by Spanish publication SPORT, Nico Gonzalez is the subject of interest from Olympique de Marseille over a possible move in the summer transfer window. But Barcelona might look to keep hold of the Spanish prodigy, who will take part in the pre-season campaign.
Nico Gonzalez came through the ranks at Barcelona after arriving from Montaneros nearly a decade ago. The 20-year-old once seemed to have an uncertain future at Camp Nou, but he pledged his commitment to the Blaugrana last year before making his first-team debut at the onset of the 2021/22 campaign.
The Spaniard successfully established a foothold in Barcelona’s first-team setup and made 36 appearances for the first team. But despite making swift progress at Camp Nou, Nico faces an uncertain future at FC Barcelona, with several clubs from across Europe keen on signing him.
Recent reports had claimed that Barcelona might be ready to sell Nico this summer. But according to SPORT, the Catalan giants are unsure about his position, and the player will take part in their pre-season campaign ahead of 2022/23. Nonetheless, Ligue 1 giants Marseille will likely launch the offensive in the summer transfer window.
Marseille will look to bring in a long-term replacement for Boubacar Kamara, who will officially complete a Bosman move to Aston Villa on July 1. The Ligue 1 giants also have a UEFA Champions League campaign to look forward to, and the Barcelona midfielder can be a top-notch addition to the squad.
Whether Barcelona will sanction Nico’s sale remains up for debate. But Marseille could have competition for the 20-year-old prodigy, with Manchester City and Wolverhampton Wanderers also keen on signing him. While Barcelona might end up keeping Nico, they will likely cash in on Oscar Mingueza.
According to Mundo Deportivo, as many as five La Liga clubs are hoping to secure the services of the 23-year-old defender in the summer transfer window. Celta Vigo, Elche, Getafe, RCD Mallorca, and Valencia are all closely monitoring Mingueza’s situation at FC Barcelona and could soon launch the offensive to land him.
Mingueza has been with Barcelona since 2007 and has since come leaps and bounds at the Catalan club. The Spanish defender made his first-team debut for Barcelona in the 2020/21 season and has proven to be a dependable backup option for the Blaugrana in the last two years.
But despite rising in stature at Camp Nou, Mingueza faces an uncertain future at the Catalan club, with Barcelona reportedly deeming him surplus to requirements. Recent reports have also claimed that Barcelona will demand €5 million to part ways with Mingueza in the summer transfer window.
The 23-year-old has no shortage of suitors either, with five La Liga clubs in Celta Vigo, Elche, Getafe, RCD Mallorca, and Valencia closely monitoring his situation at FC Barcelona. Bundesliga clubs Hoffenheim and Eintracht Frankfurt are also keen on signing the Barcelona defender.
With Barcelona ready to offload the Spaniard, a summer departure from Camp Nou could be on the cards. It will be interesting to see which of the five La Liga clubs approach the Blaugrana for a transfer or if he moves abroad to join a foreign club ahead of the 2022/23 season.
