Tottenham sign Josh Keeley

Tottenham Hotspur have reportedly completed the signing of highly-rated 19-year-old Irish goalkeeper Josh Keeley.

According to football.london, Tottenham Hotspur have completed yet another signing this summer with highly-rated 19-year-old goalkeeper Josh Keeley joining them from St Patrick’s Athletic in Ireland’s Premier Division. Tottenham have reportedly released five goalkeepers recently across age groups, and Keeley’s signing is a direct result of the step.

The teenager has made two appearances for St Patrick’s Athletic’s senior team and has also played twice for their under-19 team in the UEFA Youth League. Spurs are yet to make the announcement official, but when they do, Keeley will become their third summer acquisition.

Antonio Conte’s side have been proactive in the transfer market and have already completed two deals for the first team. They have signed Ivan Perisic from Inter Milan on a free transfer and have also completed a Bosman move for English shot-stopper Fraser Forster from Southampton.

While Perisic is expected to slot into the left wing-back spot, Forster has been signed as an understudy for captain Hugo Lloris and can expect to be played in the cup competitions.

As for Keeley, he is expected to slot in with the Tottenham Hotspur’s reserve team once he arrives and grow into a first-team role at the club in the years to come.

There are other areas Conte is eager to strengthen, with an attacker, a right-back and a central defender on his wishlist. For the right-back slot, Tottenham have reportedly agreed on a deal to sign 21-year-old Djed Spence from Middlesbrough.

Everton’s Richarlison is reportedly closing on a Tottenham move as well. But there are a few complications with Everton demanding a hefty fee of around €70-75 million for the Brazilian. Spurs are hoping to bring down the asking price and are reportedly ready to add Harry Winks and Lucas Moura in any potential deal.

Tottenham were seriously pursuing Inter Milan’s Alessandro Bastoni, but the Italian is reportedly reluctant to leave Serie A. They are thus monitoring possible options with Villarreal’s Pau Torres among defenders they are keeping tabs on.

At the same time, the north London club are also closing in on the signing of Yves Bissouma from Brighton & Hove Albion. With three transfers closed and one more on the verge of completion, exciting times lie ahead for Tottenham fans.
