Paris Saint-Germain have reportedly tabled a €50 million offer to sign Chelsea target Milan Skriniar from Inter Milan.
According to Foot Mercato, Paris Saint-Germain have submitted a €50 million bid for Inter Mian centre-back Milan Skriniar, a target for Chelsea. The French giants are in the market for a central defender after Sergio Ramos’s signing did not work out as planned for them.
The former Real Madrid captain was bought last season to add depth to the centre-back position, with Marquinhos and Presnel Kimpembe already in the frame. Ramos, along with Lionel Messi, was also believed to be leading PSG’s UEFA Champions League charge.
But the Spaniard spent much of his season on the treatment table, forcing the Marquinhos-Kimpembe duo to play most of the matches. That PSG failed to mount a Champions League challenge has further forced their hands into looking for a world-class centre-back for the upcoming season.
Inter Milan’s Skriniar, who still has a year remaining on his contract, has emerged as an option. The Nerazzurri are in talks with the 27-year-old over a new deal and the defender himself intended to stay in Milan but PSG’s interest has turned his head.
Inter are also trying to offload one or more of their first-choice players to balance their books but they do not wish to sell the Slovakia international. Skriniar’s defensive partner, Alessandro Bastoni, has been linked with a move to Tottenham Hotspur, but the Italian international is not eager to leave Italy.
If Inter do decide to sell Skriniar, they will hold out for at least €80 million for the defender. But as per the report, they can be convinced to sell him for a fee of around €70 million.
Chelsea are also reportedly tracking Skriniar’s situation, but they have other options lined up as well. The Blues are close to completing a deal for Sevilla’s Jules Kounde, while the likes of Villarreal’s Pau Torres and RB Leipzig’s Josko Gvardiol are also on Chelsea’s wishlist.
But PSG, as per the Foot Mercato report, are confident of completing a deal for Skriniar ahead of Chelsea. Their new sporting director Luis Campos could make the 27-year-old his first signing of the summer.
