Atletico Madrid submit offer to sign Carlos Soler

La Liga heavyweights Atletico Madrid have reportedly lodged an offer to secure the services of Carlos Soler, a target for Barcelona.

According to a report by Spanish publication SPORT, La Liga heavyweights Atletico Madrid are stepping up their efforts to sign Carlos Soler in the summer transfer window. The Colchoneros have submitted an offer that will surpass Barcelona’s proposal for the Valencia midfielder.

Carlos Soler is at a crossroads in his career, as he will enter the final year of his Valencia contract next month. One of the best midfielders in La Liga, the Spanish international has turned out 222 times for Los Che thus far, chipping in with 35 goals and 31 assists.

But Soler’s contract situation has left Valencia in a spot of bother, with the 25-year-old ready to embark on a new adventure in his career. Soler’s possible availability has captured the attention of several high-profile clubs across Europe, including La Liga heavyweights Barcelona and Atletico Madrid.

The Catalan giants view Soler as a possible long-term replacement for Frenkie de Jong, who faces an uncertain future at Camp Nou amid the club’s continued financial distress. And the Spaniard is a viable target for Barcelona, considering his extensive experience in La Liga, with the player himself keen on moving to Camp Nou.

Recent reports have claimed that Barcelona could offer a part-exchange deal to sign Soler from Valencia this summer. But Barcelona will face stiff competition from Atletico Madrid in the race to sign the Spanish international ahead of the 2022/23 season.

The interest from Atletico Madrid stems from the uncertainties surrounding the future of Saul Niguez. The Spanish international might not have a future at Atletico Madrid after returning from his loan stint with Chelsea. And with Hector Herrera set to join Houston Dynamo this summer, Los Rojiblancos will need to invest in a midfielder, making Soler a viable target, for whom they have lodged an offer.

According to SPORT, Atletico Madrid’s offer to sign Soler will easily exceed Barcelona’s proposal. Meanwhile, Soler is also a target for Juventus, who will look to sign the Spaniard in a Bosman move next summer instead of pursuing him this year. So Atletico Madrid could be leading the race to sign the Valencia vice-captain.
