Real Madrid keeping tabs on Bukayo Saka

Real Madrid are reportedly keeping tabs on the situation of Arsenal prodigy Bukayo Saka, who is also on the radars of Manchester City and Liverpool.

According to 90 Min, Arsenal forward Bukayo Saka is in no rush to sign a new contract with the club. With his current deal expiring in 2024, clubs from across Europe are keeping a close eye on his situation. Real Madrid are the latest club to enter the fray for the 20-year-old Saka, who is also being pursued by Manchester City and Liverpool.

A product of the Arsenal youth setup, Saka burst onto the first-team picture in 2019 under then-manager Unai Emery. Initially making an impression in an unnatural left-back position, the England international has honed his skills over the past couple of seasons and is now one of the most dangerous young wingers in the Premier League.

Saka, who turned 20 last year, has already accumulated 131 appearances for Arsenal, bagging 23 goals and 29 assists. A regular for the England national team, he has 14 caps for the Three Lions. His progress at the Emirates has not gone unnoticed, with Manchester City and Liverpool long-time admirers of the Arsenal prodigy.

Manchester City have been keeping a close eye on Saka and are reportedly ready to ramp up their pursuit of the 20-year-old this summer. Considering that Raheem Sterling is staring at an uncertain future at the Etihad and Riyad Mahrez is also entering the final year of his contract, a move for the Arsenal ace would make sense for Pep Guardiola’s champions.

Liverpool, meanwhile, could be looking at Saka as a potential replacement for star forward Sadio Mane. The Senegalese speedster’s contract expires in 2023, and he is keen on securing a move away from Anfield this summer, with Bayern Munich emerging as suitors. His departure would leave a gaping hole in the frontline, and Saka could be a viable replacement in Jurgen Klopp’s squad.

Now, though, Real Madrid have also entered the fray for Saka’s signing and have asked to be kept in the loop about the situation surrounding his contract. The Merengues are scouring the market for attacking reinforcements after having missed out on the signing of Kylian Mbappe, with the likes of Sterling, Serge Gnabry and Richarlison among the names being linked.

Saka, too, could be seen as a valuable target for the Spanish and European champions, considering the potential that he has shown at such a young age. The 20-year-old’s contract with Arsenal runs out in 2024 and the club are keen on tying him down to a new long-term deal. However, the winger is in no hurry to commit to a new contract at the Emirates, leaving the door open for suitors to make a move.

The report adds that Arsenal are not worried about the future of Saka as things stand and will start negotiating over a new deal in due course as they look to secure his future at the earliest possible. Whether Manchester City, Liverpool or Real Madrid decide to act on their interest before that remains to be seen.
