Liverpool have reportedly been left unimpressed by Bayern Munich’s latest offer for wantaway winger Sadio Mane.
According to The Times, Premier League heavyweights Liverpool have rejected Bayern Munich’s latest offer for Senegalese international winger Sadio Mane.
The 30-year-old was one of Jurgen Klopp’s first major signings and has played a key role in the Reds’ success since. Mane has now spent six years at Anfield and has won every honour possible with Liverpool. Mane now appears ready for a new challenge, and a move to Bayern Munich appears to be on the cards.
The Bavarian giants are keen on signing Mane but are yet to present Liverpool with an acceptable terms. Die Roten saw an initial bid of around £25 million get rejected by Liverpool last week and have enjoyed no further success with a second bid either.
Bayern’s latest bid worth £30 million including bonuses was laughed off by the Merseysiders, who value their star forward at around £42.5 million. There is some serious ground to be made up, and it would appear that Liverpool are inert in their valuation.
Bayern’s latest offer was worth £23.5 million in guaranteed payment, with the remaining £6.5 million to be paid in bonuses. Given that these clauses involved Mane winning three UEFA Champions League titles or three Ballon d’Ors, Liverpool have every right to brand them unlikely to ever happen. At 30, Mane is not getting any younger, and the chances of him satisfying either criterion appear extremely unlikely.
The Reds have not taken kindly to Bayern Munich’s lowball offer and have dismissed the need for any face to face negotiations unless a serious offer is made. With just a year to go on his Liverpool contract, Mane could potentially leave as a free agent in the summer of 2023. Despite the risk, Liverpool appear to be ready to dig in their heels.
At 30, Mane still has a few years left in him at the top. He impressed as a striker towards the end of the 2021/22 season, and it could prove to be the way forward for him in the coming seasons. Bayern need such a player, given Robert Lewandowski’s could depart from the Allianz Arena amid interest from Barcelona.

Liverpool, to their credit, also appear to be moving on. They are close to agreeing on a deal for Darwin Nunez after submitting an official offer, and Jurgen Klopp’s new-look frontline appears to be taking shape. Selling Mane will be the end of an era for Liverpool, and the Reds appear to be keen to do so on their terms.
