Bayern Munich planning improved €40 million bid for Sadio Mane

Bayern Munich are ready to offer a €40 million package to Liverpool for the services of Sadio Mane.

A recent report from Sport1 has offered an update on Bayern Munich’s pursuit of Sadio Mane. The Liverpool forward has emerged as one of the club’s top targets this summer as Julian Nagelsmann looks to make his frontline less reliable on Robert Lewandowski.

The Polish international has been linked with a move to FC Barcelona. He has already stated his desire to leave the Bavarians in the summer, with Barça themselves confident of sealing the deal to sign the star forward.

Bayern Munich have recently made an opening bid in their pursuit of Mane. The entire package offered by the Bavarians was worth around £25 million (€29.2 million) including add-ons. But it was swiftly rejected by Liverpool, who value the player much higher despite his contract expiring at the end of next season.

Responding to the rejection, Bayern are now preparing an improved bid of around €35 million. The figure will be paid upfront while an additional €5 million could come in the form of several special clauses, taking the total value of the offer to €40 million. Bayern winning the UEFA Champions League is believed to be one of the main variables in the add-ons.

The total package, worth around €40 million, is much more acceptable for Liverpool. The Reds had appeared reluctant in offloading Mane this summer, but the winger’s recent comments while on international duty have confirmed his desire to leave Anfield ahead of the new season.

It appears the Senegalese international is ready to move on and build his own legacy away from the shadow of Mohamed Salah. He will have the opportunity to do just that at Bayern, as the German giants prepare for life without star striker Lewandowski.

Mane’s ability to operate anywhere across the final third should make him an ideal cog for Nagelsmann. The combination between him, Serge Gnabry, Kingsley Coman and Leroy Sane is going to be worth keeping an eye on, even though Gnabry has been linked with an exit, amid interest from Real Madrid.

Liverpool, too, have started their search for an ideal replacement for Mane and have recently set their sights on Chelsea outcast Christian Pulisic. They are also keeping an eye on Leeds United winger, although the Brazilian could be headed to Barcelona. As for Mane, only time will tell whether the improved offer from Bayern is deemed acceptable by Liverpool.
