Arsenal have seen a €40 million bid for Gianluca Scamacca get rebuffed as the striker wishes to stay in Italy and join one of the big Serie A clubs.
According to Alfredo Pedulla, Arsenal have been dealt a blow in their pursuit of Gianluca Scamacca as Sassuolo have rejected their €40 million bid. The Italian international is not very keen on moving away from his homeland and hopes to join one of the big Serie A clubs in the summer, with Inter Milan keen on signing him.
Gianluca Scamacca is primed for an extensive career ahead and could become one of the most important players for the Italian national side in the years to come. Sassuolo are bracing themselves for reasonable offers in the summer transfer window, as the striker is a sure departure from the club.
There is tremendous interest within Serie A, as some of the top clubs are keeping tabs on Scamacca’s situation. Napoli and AC Milan have been glancing eyeballs at the Italian forward and are hoping to lure him this summer. However, it may seem that Inter Milan are reportedly the favourites for his signature, although he is not their primary target.
Recent reports have claimed that Inter are keen on re-signing Romelu Lukaku and are planning to submit a loan-to-buy deal for the Chelsea striker. With the Belgian international reportedly eager to return to San Siro after a terrible season in the Premier League, Scamacca might not join the Nerazzurri.
A move for Scamacca would entirely depend upon Inter’s success in the pursuit of Lukaku. If they cannot move for the Italian international, he would be happy to join the likes of Napoli or AC Milan. Meanwhile, Juventus can count themselves out of the race after splashing the cash on Dusan Vlahovic in January.
The common factor in Vlahovic and Scamacca’s case is the involvement of Arsenal. Last summer, Sassuolo were able to drive Manuel Locatelli’s asking price after the Gunners reportedly tabled offers for the Italian midfielder, who eventually joined Juventus.
Arsenal could be in a similar situation with Scamacca, as the north Londoners have reportedly seen a bid worth €40 million-plus bonuses getting rebuffed, likely by the player himself. The striker currently does not wish to leave Italy and would like to continue playing in Serie A.
Arsenal have been in the market for a new striker and have many names on their shortlist. Scamacca’s name emerged back in January when they were chasing Vlahovic. Gabriel Jesus, Victor Osimhen, Tammy Abraham, and Darwin Nunez have all been mentioned as targets for Arsenal 0in the last few weeks, as Mikel Arteta has yet to decide on his preferred new No.9.
Despite their initial plan to sign two strikers in the window, Arsenal may bring in only one big name as Eddie Nketiah is reportedly close to signing a new deal. With Alexandre Lacazette set to join Lyon on a free transfer, it will be imperative to replace the Frenchman.

The search for the new No.9 is still pretty much open as Arsenal continue to evaluate the targets on their shortlist. While Scamacca’s name may have to be scratched out, they remain hopeful of luring in one of the other.
