Manchester City are reportedly ready to battle Tottenham Hotspur and Leeds United for the signing of Celtic’s 15-year-old goalkeeper Rory Mahady.

According to the Daily Record, Manchester City, Tottenham Hotspur and Leeds United are vying for the signature of Celtic shot-stopper Rory Mahady. Celtic are eager to keep hold of the Scottish under-17 international, but there is serious interest coming in from the Premier League.

The teenager is believed to be one of the best young goalkeepers in Britain, with Leeds reportedly being the first two to show interest. Manchester City and Tottenham Hotspur have now joined the race to get the youngster on board.

Mahady can sign his first professional contract later this year when he turns 16 and that is why the interest has suddenly piqued in the goalkeeper. He is yet to graduate to the Celtic first-team, and should he decide to move to the Premier League, the 15-year-old will have to wait for a considerable time before getting his first shot in the senior squad.

Manchester City, Tottenham and Leeds have had hugely varying 2021/22 seasons in the Premier League. While the Cityzens were successful in defending their league title on the final matchday by coming back from 2-0 down to win 3-2 against Aston Villa, Leeds narrowly avoided a drop.

On the other hand, Tottenham were involved in a heated race for a top-four finish with north London rivals London. A 3-0 win for Spurs in the north London derby set the wheels rolling for them as the Gunners’ form crumbled, and Antonio Conte’s men eventually finished the season in fourth place to qualify for next season’s UEFA Champions League.

The Italian tactician recently agreed to stay for at least another season at Tottenham, and the club have promised a significant war chest for the upcoming summer transfer window. Conte is eager to improve multiple positions and Spurs already seem pretty active in the transfer market.

They completed the signing of Inter Milan’s Ivan Perisic on a free transfer this week and look set to close a few other deals before the window slams shut. Tottenham have prioritised a centre-back singing and Inter’s Alessandro Bastoni is on top of their list. As for the pursuit of Mahady, Manchester City and Leeds will provide stiff competition to Spurs.
