West Ham United monitoring Kristjan Asllani

West Ham United are reportedly keeping close tabs on FC Empoli midfielder Kristjan Asllani, valued at around €10-12 million, a target for Inter Milan.

A recent report from Calciomercato.it has offered an update on the future of Kristjan Asllani. The young Empoli midfielder is a man in demand after enjoying a promising 2021/22 campaign. Empoli are believed to be open to offloading their prized youngster, for a fee of around €10-12 million.

It has put West Ham United on alert, with the Premier League outfit keen on shoring up their options in the middle of the park. However, they could face stiff competition from Inter Milan and fellow league rivals Leicester City, in the pursuit of the Empoli youngster.

A defensive midfielder by trade, Asllani has enjoyed a swift rise to prominence after he was promoted to the Empoli first-team last year. In his debut professional campaign, the midfielder racked up 23 league appearances, impressing the onlookers with his technical prowess and the ability to control the game in the middle of the park.

Asllani’s contributions in midfield were critical in helping Empoli escape the wrath of relegation. He has indeed showcased impeccable maturity and composure, with the youngster masterfully anchoring the play in the middle, despite his 1.75m frame.

The 20-year-old’s qualities in midfield have made him an appealing target for West Ham, who are facing a battle to keep hold of star player Declan Rice. The Englishman rejected an eight-year contract extension by the club earlier in the month and has been courted by a series of top clubs across Europe.

Even if Rice ends up remaining at the London Stadium beyond the summer, it is apparent David Moyes is keen on finding a deputy who can eventually replace the soon-to-be West Ham club captain in the years to come.

Asllani fits the bill well given the potential he has shown in the Serie A this past season. At the age of just 20, the Albanian also has time on his side and the potential to become an asset for a club like West Ham in the coming years.

However, succeeding in the pursuit of Asllani could be tricky, especially with Inter Milan leading the race to secure his services. The Nerazzurri are considering him as a potential long-term successor for Marcelo Brozovic, with the youngster’s €10-12 million price tag making him a financially feasible target for the Italian giants.

The report clearly favours Inter Milan in the race to sign Kristjan Asllani. But with other clubs, like West Ham, making a push, the former Italian champions must act quickly if they are to get their hands on the Empoli midfielder later this summer.
