Robert Lewandowski, a target for Barcelona, is reportedly open to joining their arch-rival Real Madrid in the summer transfer window.
According to a report by Spanish publication AS, Robert Lewandowski is open to the prospect of moving to Real Madrid in the summer transfer window amid his widespread links with Barcelona. The veteran Polish striker is keen on leaving Bayern Munich ahead of the 2022/23 season.
The Robert Lewandowski saga is getting out of hand for Bayern Munich, whose best efforts to keep hold of the veteran striker are proving futile. Several board members have publicly insisted that the 33-year-old is going nowhere in the summer transfer window, but recent comments by Pini Zahavi will have left the Bavarian giants fretting over his future.
Lewandowski enjoyed a solid 2021/22 campaign, which could be his final with Bayern Munich, amassing 50 goals and seven assists in 46 appearances across all competitions. And the prospect of snapping up one of the best players in Europe has captured the attention of Barcelona and Real Madrid.
Barcelona will need to invest in a striker in the summer transfer window, as Martin Braithwaite could depart from Camp Nou to seek regular game-time elsewhere, while Luuk de Jong has played his final game for the Blaugrana. And the Catalan giants have already submitted an offer to sign Lewandowski, with Bayern Munich swiftly rejecting the bid.
Nonetheless, Barcelona will continue to pursue Lewandowski, considering he is eager to embark on a new adventure in the summer transfer window. But Barcelona will have to fend off competition from arch-rival Real Madrid in the race to sign the Polish international.
The interest from Real Madrid has cropped up again following Kylian Mbappe’s decision to remain at Paris Saint-Germain. But it is hard to see how Lewandowski and Karim Benzema can fit in together unless Carlo Ancelotti changes his system drastically. Nonetheless, it looks like Real Madrid could launch the offensive for the Pole, who is open to joining Los Blancos.

Lewandowski’s readiness to move to Real Madrid will come as a hammer blow to Barcelona’s hopes of signing him, considering the Merengues have a higher purchasing power in the market. But the Blaugrana might hope to tip the scales by convincing Lewandowski of their project.
