Real Madrid tracking Fabio Silva

Real Madrid are reportedly keeping a close watch on the progress of Wolverhampton Wanderers’ Portuguese striker Fabio Silva.

According to Defensa Central, Real Madrid are monitoring the development of Wolverhampton Wanderers and Portugal Under-21 striker Fabio Silva, with the club hoping to add more youngsters to their roster.

Silva started at the academy of FC Porto and then spent a couple of years with the youth setup of Benfica before returning to Porto in 2017. He went on to make 21 senior appearances for the Portuguese giants before Wolves signed him in the summer of 2019 in a big-money deal.

Silva’s time in England has not entirely been productive, as he has managed just four goals and six assists in 61 matches in all competitions. The 19-year-old has failed to establish himself as a regular in the side and has found game-time hard to come by under Bruno Lage this term, featuring 25 times, out of which only six have been from the start.

Silva has not scored a single goal this season. But, despite that, Real Madrid have been keeping tabs on the 19-year-old due to the immense potential he possesses.

Real Madrid are looking for young strikers to add to their roster as Karim Benzema slowly closes in on the final phase of his career. While Kylian Mbappe is expected to join the Merengues in the summer, at least another forward would be a welcome signing as Luka Jovic and Mariano Diaz are likely to depart at the end of the season.

It would leave Real Madrid without a viable backup option in the centre-forward slot, making a new striker a key signing. Having tasted success by investing in youth in recent times, the newly-crowned Spanish champions wish to continue that trend and have identified Silva as one of the possible targets to reinforce their attack.

However, given his lack of opportunities and failure to showcase his full potential, Real Madrid are still undecided on signing him permanently. Instead, they plan to keep tracking his progress at Wolves before deciding on a move. Apart from Silva, Carlo Ancelotti’s side are also tracking Granada’s Matias Arezo, who is held in high regard in his homeland of Uruguay.

OGC Nice striker Amine Gouiri, dubbed as the ‘next Benzema’, is also on the radars of Real Madrid. So, it will be interesting to see who the Spanish capital club sign.
