La Liga heavyweights Real Madrid are reportedly ready to offer a deal worth €9 million per year net to secure the long-term future of Vinicius Jr.
According to a report by Spanish publication Mundo Deportivo, Real Madrid will soon step up their efforts to secure the long-term future of Vinicius Junior. The Merengues are prepared to offer the 21-year-old forward a contract worth €9 million per year net, which will be a big jump from his current €3 million-a-year deal.
Vinicius Jr. joined Real Madrid from Flamengo in July 2018 and has since come leaps and bounds in the Spanish capital. The Brazilian international initially struggled for consistency and failed to be productive in the final third despite showing bags of potential.
But Carlo Ancelotti’s guiding hand has done wonders to Vinicius’s career, as he has transformed into a prolific creator and goalscorer for Real Madrid this season. The 21-year-old has blossomed into a talismanic figure for Real Madrid, amassing 21 goals and 20 assists in 50 appearances across all competitions thus far this term.
Vinicius Jr. has thus become the most productive under-21 player in Europe and added to his tally on Thursday by scoring a hat-trick against Levante in a La Liga clash. Vinicius’s enormous progress this season has compelled Real Madrid to hand him a bumper new contract.
The Brazilian forward currently earns €3 million per year, making him one of the lowest earners at Real Madrid. But the Merengues intend to reward him for his brilliant campaign by improving his wages threefold. The report has claimed Vinicius will be earning around €9 million net per year if he signs the new contract that Real Madrid will soon offer.
Tying Vinicius Jr. to a long-term and lucrative contract will be a step in the right direction for Real Madrid, who will be aiming to bring Kylian Mbappe to the Santiago Bernabeu in a Bosman move in the summer transfer window. And with Rodrygo Goes showing signs of improvement, tying Vinicius down to a renewal will set Real Madrid up for the coming decade.
It will be interesting to see if the €9 million-a-year net contract offer does the trick for Vinicius Jr. or if he holds out for better terms. As things stand, it looks like the 21-year-old will extend his stay at Real Madrid while tripling his wages in the process.
