Arsenal will need to pay €50 million for Gabriel Jesus

Manchester City could demand a fee of €50 million from Arsenal for Gabriel Jesus after the striker’s impressive late-season form.

According to Fichajes, Manchester City could sell Gabriel Jesus in the next window as they are closing in on signing Erling Haaland. The Brazilian international is one of the stars the club could sell in the summer. The Premier League champions are likely to demand around €50 million from Arsenal, who are keen on signing the forward.

Gabriel Jesus has always been a fantastic acquisition for Manchester City. Despite playing second fiddle to the club’s first-choice striker for most of his time at the Etihad, the Brazilian still boasts impressive numbers. His late-season form is a testament to his commitment as he has come back into the manager’s plans since last month.

Pep Guardiola has preferred Jesus to start some of Manchester City’s important games in the past month, including the league and FA Cup ties against Liverpool and the UEFA Champions League semi-finals against Real Madrid. The manager’s preference incidentally changed after reports strongly linked the Brazilian with Arsenal.

The striker’s performances have added to his existing value, and the latest suggestion is that Manchester City could demand more money than previously suggested. Arsenal have been willing to pay considerably less than €50 million for the Brazilian, who will enter the final year of his deal with Manchester City.

But the €50 million price tag may not pose a problem for Arsenal. Manchester City are reportedly on the verge of announcing the capture of Erling Haaland this week, which leaves Jesus free to leave the Premier League champions.

The Gunners may not consider Jesus the perfect centre-forward option but rate him as a significant market opportunity they do not want to miss. Moreover, Mikel Arteta knows the quality of the player, with the Arsenal manager previously working with him directly during his days as Guardiola’s assistant at Manchester City.

Jesus has attributes that would vastly improve Arsenal’s attack, and he could be a massive upgrade to Alexandre Lacazette, who will depart from the Emirates as a free agent when the season ends. The Gunners are hoping to close the deal at the earliest and focus their efforts on other areas.

This deal seems straightforward from multiple angles and could conclude if talks between Arsenal and Manchester City advance as planned. Jesus could be a brilliant addition to the system in place under Arteta, who likes the Brazilian forward for his versatile qualities to play through the middle or on either flank.
